What Does Artificial Intelligence Mean for Maritime Professions, and What Does It Mean for Maritime Education?

A 2025 report from the Danish Technological Institute on the use of artificial in the Danish industry concluded that there is a clear gap between the potential of artificial intelligence and its actual application. The report further found that a lack of knowledge, rather than the technology itself, is the greatest barrier to realizing this potential.

This serves as the starting point for this thematic seminar at Teknika, where we ask the questions: What does artificial intelligence mean for maritime professions, and what does it mean for maritime education?

We will focus on the competency gap highlighted in the report and discuss what can be done to reduce this gap. What will it require, and what role can each of us play in addressing this challenge?

Join us to hear perspectives from research, industry, education, and human factors specialists, and take part in the discussion on how to reduce the competency gap and strengthen collaboration between industry, research, and education.
